Dearest Sorors and Friends,
It is both an honor and pleasure to welcome you to the website of the Electrifying Gamma Epsilon Philadelphia City Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. We are a citywide, undergraduate chapter whose charter includes: Drexel University, LaSalle University, Philadelphia University, St. Joseph’s University and the University of Pennsylvania.
Since being chartered in 1945, the Gamma Epsilon Philadelphia City Chapter continues to dedicate itself to upholding Alpha Kappa Alpha’s glorious legacy. As a chapter, we personally and collectively strive to embody the three thrusts of our beloved Sorority: Sisterhood, Scholarship and Service. Our national program “The Heart of ESP: Economics, Sisterhood, and Partnership” has enabled us to serve the community in a number of creative ways. We continue to integrate the five platforms of this theme through our programming and service initiatives as we celebrate the 102 years since our illustrious sorority’s beginnings.
Gamma Epsilon is an award-winning chapter whose recent acknowledgements include: Drexel University’s 2009 Academic Excellence Award as well as the University of Pennsylvania’s MGC 2009 Outstanding Greek Leaders Award. Sorors in our chapter have also received a number of individual honors as well, including induction in to the Order of Omega, the national Greek honor society, and participation in the prestigious Alpha Kappa Alpha Leadership Fellows Program.
In addition to serving our respective campuses, Gamma Epsilon is committed to serving the greater Philadelphia community. We have organized a Technology Drive to raise funds for Verizon Wireless’s HopeLine Project and the thINK ink cartridge drive program. Donations help fund domestic violence centers and homeless in our community, respectively. We also volunteer with the Ase Saturday Academy to teach students computer and typing skills. The chapter has also collected and donated more than $3,000 to the American Cancer Society, participated in the Making Strides against Breast Cancer Walk and the Philadelphia AIDS Walk in addition to the Rena Rowan Ribbon Run for Breast Cancer Research and the Senator Leanna Washington Walk to End Domestic Violence.
I hope our website provides you with further information on our chapter and it’s phenomenal women. I am personally very proud of the work that the chapter continues to pursue and I am ecstatic to be able to share our efforts with all of you. I encourage you to sign our guestbook and please feel free to email the chapter if you have any other questions.
Sincerely,
Sonie K. Guseh
